Victaulic Coupling

Victaulic Coupling

A Victaulic coupling is a mechanical pipe joining device used to connect grooved-end pipes quickly, safely, and reliably. Instead of traditional welding, threading, or flanged connections, Victaulic couplings use a groove-and-gasket system that provides a strong, flexible, and leak-tight joint. These couplings are widely used in industrial piping, HVAC, fire protection, oil & gas, and water systems.

Key Elements of a Victaulic Coupling

Essential components working together to provide secure pipe alignment, flexible sealing, vibration absorption, and long-lasting, leak-proof performance in mechanical piping systems.

Two semi-circular housing segments clamp around the grooved ends of the pipes

Made from Cast iron, stainless steel, or carbon steel depending on application

Precision-designed teeth inside the housing engage with the pipe grooves

Coatings: Painted, galvanized, epoxy-coated, or fire-resistant coatings

A continuous, molded C-shaped elastomeric gasket is positioned between the pipe ends.

When compressed, it creates a pressure-responsive, leak-tight seal.

Available in materials such as EPDM, NBR, Fluoroelastomer (FKM), chlorinated rubber, and more.

Typically supplied with two bolts; larger coupling sizes may require additional fasteners

The bolts draw the housing segments together, applying uniform compression to the gasket.

Available with zinc-plated or hot-dip galvanized coatings for enhanced corrosion resistance.
